Recent Trends in Teacher Education in Germany

چکیده
TNTEE Publications Volume 2, Nr 2, December 1999 We are faced with an interesting phenomenon in Germany: Seen from the inside, i.e. with regard to internal organisation, structures and curricula, teacher education has not been a very dynamic sector for decades. In the post-war period the major event was the almost complete universitisation of teacher education through the integration of the Pädagogische Hochschulen (Teacher Education Colleges) into universities in the late 1960s/early 1970s and even this integration was described by some researchers as having taken place only on paper. However, on the side of social functions, social uses, orientations and effects of teacher education there have been massive upheavals within the relatively short time of three decades.
